Tree nuts are a hard-shelled fruit. As the name suggests, they grow on trees.

The tree nut family includes (but is not limited to):

  • Almonds
  • Brazil nuts
  • Cashews
  • Chestnuts
  • Hazelnuts
  • Macadamias
  • Pecans
  • Pine nuts
  • Pistachios
  • Walnuts.

Tree nuts are different to peanuts – which are from a different family. Peanuts are a legume and grow underground.
