From an impromptu ‘last day of school’ get-together organised at the gate, to optimistically inviting your work team home for a drink tonight, last minute entertaining can put you in a spin.

Luckily, we have you covered with a range of quick end-of-year ideas that are sure to please a crowd.

Putting together an Instagram-worthy dessert platter is a cinch.

Raid your cupboards (and the supermarket!) for a range of raw, roasted, and flavoured nuts, fresh and dried fruits, and Christmas treats like gingerbread, nougat, and fruit mince pies. Use small plates and bowls on your platter to separate foods and give dimension. Platters are a great way to cater to allergies and different diets … there’s something for everyone!

Chocolate and hazelnut are a winning combination for last minute entertaining, especially at Christmas.

Whip up a batch of hazelnut bliss balls before the doorbell rings, or make a batch in advance to pull out for impromptu parties (this recipe keeps well in the fridge for a week).

Trail mix is possibly the quickest and simplest ‘bring a plate’ we know. Include goji berries and pepitas with almonds, pistachios and walnuts for a red and green festive look.

Fresh, homemade dip will make anyone look like a kitchen wizard.

Our white bean and roasted nut dip and beetroot and walnut hummus both come together in less than 15 minutes, with an incredible depth of flavour. Cut up some vegetable sticks or grab a packet of water crackers on your way to the party and you’re done!
